Set in the 1960s in a pub in Oldham, 'Hangmen' tells the
story of Harry, the 2nd best Hangman in England’
and how he copes with the abolition of hanging.
When a mysterious stranger arrives at the pub, with a dark
motive behind his visit,
things take a sinister turn and Harry’s teenage daughter goes missing...
With a large, predominantly male cast of differing ages (but with two fantastic female parts
for someone aged 16-25 and 40s-60s), ‘Hangmen’ offers them a wonderful opportunity
to get their teeth into an array of superb characters, and to deliver a play which balances
laugh-out-loud comedy with tension and pathos.
We will be staging the play at the end of November (performances will be on the 28th, 29th and 30th)
and will be rehearsing on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from September,
and also on Sunday afternoons from mid-late October.
